Simeon ten Holt: Canto Ostinato (Vernède/Bouwhuis/Minnaar/Janssen)

Canto Ostinato by Simeon ten Holt. No further recommendation is really needed. Perhaps you were there in January 2023, when pianists Arielle Vernède, Gerard Bouwhuis, Kees Wieringa and Jeroen van Veen performed the work in a packed Small Hall of De Oosterpoort. Or you were wonderfully relaxed on a mat in the Main Hall of De Oosterpoort last November during the lounge session of pianists Jeroen van Veen and Mike del Ferro. Or you heard the beautiful performance by star harpist Gwyneth Wentink in April during one of her Ode concerts. The work has been performed many times in different formations. What always remains the same is the dreamy, almost meditative effect that the repetitive music has on many listeners. Simeon ten Holt himself preferred a performance on four pianos. And that is what you will get during this concert. Canto performers from the very beginning Arielle Vernède and Gerard Bouwhuis – who were also there two years ago – are this time accompanied by Hannes Minnaar and Ivo Janssen. The second chance for everyone who could not be there before.
