Simeon ten Holt: Canto Ostinato (Wiebe Kaspers)
Nijkleaster organizes a performance of the Canto Ostinato in collaboration with Wiebe Kaspers. The Canto Ostinato was written by the Dutch composer Simeon ten Holt in the 1970s. It is an accessible and almost hypnotic work that transports and surprises the listener for hours. It is also a work in progress: nothing is exactly set in stone. The performers lead each other through the work, with constant eye and ear contact. This time it will be performed by WiebeKaspers on grand piano and Wytske Holtrop on cello. She is currently cellist with the Flanders Symphony Orchestra. This Canto Ostinato is performed on the longest day of the year: a midsummer meditation as a transition from spring to summer.
