Simeon ten Holt: Canto Ostinato (Wishful Singing-Bergwerff)
Wishful Singing and Aart Bergwerff present Simeon ten Holt’s Canto Ostinato. Originally written for piano, this version has been specially arranged for organ and female voices by Aart Bergwerff.
Canto Ostinato – often affectionately called ‘the Canto’ – is a quintessentially meditative piece. Every performance is unique, as the composer leaves the number of repetitions, the dynamics, and the playing style entirely to the performers. Wishful Singing adds an extra dimension to the experience: during the performance, the ensemble moves through the audience. To further heighten this spatial effect, visitors can choose to wear a sleep mask. Sharpen your senses and experience the meditative, timeless power of the Canto Ostinato!
The performance in the Oude Jeroenskerk, with its natural acoustics and the ethereal voices of the singers, adds an extra layer to this meditative journey.
