Simeon ten Holt: Lemniscaat
Haarlemmer Robert Lambermont is Simeon ten Holt specialist from the very beginning and for many years maintained a friendly relationship with the composer of the famous Canto Ostinato. Lemniscaat for four pianos, which Simeon ten Holt wrote after Canto Ostinato, is at least as impressive. This monumental work begins with a penetrating invocation in which a loud chord sounds almost silent. The work then follows a restless course in which minimalist sounds are alternated with compelling melodies. Simeon ten Holt compared Lemniscate with a toccata because of the virtuoso playing.
