Simeon ten Holt: Soloduiveldansen II & III
It now seems completely atypical repertoire for Hannes Minnaar, but the pianist already played the Soloduiveldansen during his student days at the invitation of composer Simeon ten Holt, and as an online stream during the Piano Biennale 2021. The pianist has also been involved in performances of Canto Ostinato. Get to know a side of Hannes Minnaar that has not yet been explored on the big stages.

Ten Holt and Satie
In 2023 we will celebrate the hundredth birthday of Simeon ten Holt. To call the Dutch composer idiosyncratic, who died in 2012, is an understatement. In the 1960s he worked with modernist compositional methods such as serialism, but this did not make him happy. It was only when he sat down behind the piano in the seventies and let his inner self speak that he came to music that he fully supported. In his own way he came up with a kind of repetitive music and in 1979 he completed his top hit Canto Ostinato. With Soloduveldans II and III he continued on the same path and added equally hypnotic pieces for piano solo to his oeuvre. The Gymnopédies by Eric Satie, which are equally meditative in a different way, form a nice resting point between the sometimes devilish dances.
