Sinta Wullur: Dukha
The International Music Composition Festival (IMCF) 2026, presented by the Music Composition Department Program, Faculty of Performing Arts, Indonesian Institut of The Arts Yogyakarta, brings together composers and musicians in a presentation of contemporary music and new compositional practices. The festival provides a platform for newly created works that engage with sound, form, timbre, gesture, technology, instrumental practice, and musical structure, reflecting the diverse directions of contemporary composition.
At its core, IMCF 2026 is a space for artistic inquiry and experimentation. The works presented explore different approaches to musical creation, drawing upon diverse traditions, disciplines, technologies, and compositional methods. Rather than pursuing a single aesthetic direction, the festival embraces plurality and artistic independence, allowing each composer to develop a distinct musical language and perspective.
Through the presentation of new works, IMCF 2026 seeks to foster dialogue among composers, performers, researchers, and audiences, creating a space for exchange and critical engagement with the evolving landscape of contemporary music. The festival will take place on 15–16 October 2026 at the Indonesian Institute of The Arts Yogyakarta, bringing together composers from Indonesia and beyond in a shared celebration of new music and contemporary composition.
