Swart, Clements, Samama, Hoogakker by Resonances XXI
The concert features the works of Dominy Clements, Leo Samama, Will Hoogakker, Dominique Lemaître, as well as the world premiere of the commission from Celia Swart “Our Patio.” It will be performed by the ensemble Resonances XXI.
Celia Swart about her new work ‘Our Patio’:
This composition is dedicated to the patio of the Collège Néerlandais building in Paris, designed by Dutch architect Willem Dudok. It is written especially for the flute ensemble Resonances XXI. The piece tells the story of two people falling in love. They are magnetised towards the pulsating, charged space that exists between them. The patio thereby creates a metaphor for this beating heart. The lovers spiral around it, facing each other from opposite sides of the patio. During the piece, they gradually converge towards the centre and eventually enter the heart of the building for a deep embrace. In the patio, they become one.
