Tilen Lebar: The Eternal Now
The Eternal Now is a new project by the Pergolesi Ensemble with music by Tilen Lebar and Dirk Hooglandt. Performances are planned for May/June 2025.
It is about transition. Transition is everywhere. Energy, nitrogen, circularity, the entire society must transition to sustainability. And also countless personal transitions, such as in gender, or perhaps also in terms of job, life phase or mental state. But change is scary. Looking back in nostalgia and looking ahead with fear and anxiety. We get stuck in the transition. We can neither move forward nor backward. But live in the moment and the transition turns out to happen automatically. Immerse yourself in the eternal now and your fear disappears like snow in the sun. Transition is actually exciting, as this performance shows.
What is special about this project is that it is played in halls in transition, that is to say demolition buildings, empty factory halls and other locations that are normally not accessible and certainly will not sound and feel like a regular concert hall. All dimensions of these spaces are explored. Visual and sonic effects optimally utilize the specific properties of the chosen playing locations. The resonance of the large industrial halls is incorporated into the compositions. Light, sculptures and movement create a mysterious, ritual atmosphere. The audience is invited to contribute. The river flows and everything moves. Panta Rhei: nothing stays the same. In nature, transition is the only constant. We are in transition whether we want it or not. But the dreams of the moment are your passport to the future. And the moment is now, the eternal now.
