Ton Bruynèl / Ton de Leeuw
ELECTRIC is the new program by Venus, featuring groundbreaking electronic music. Prepare for a surge of sound where the voices of Venus blend with the reproductions of tape recorders, amplifiers, and speakers.
The great Finnish composer Kaija Saariaho also gives nature a voice in Tag des Jahrs, a four-part work for choir and electronics. Or is it the poet Hölderlin who is under high voltage? Venus reprises Ton Bruynèl’s From the Tripod for female choir and electronics. And watch out for the short circuit caused by Gustav Lindsten and Sven-David Sandström in the works of Hildegard von Bingen and Henry Purcell. As a counterpoint, Venus also performs stunning “unplugged” repertoire by Ton de Leeuw and Francis Poulenc (for male choir).
Switch on ELECTRIC, spark some excitement among your friends, and join us on June 13 and 14 for the big discharge at the Thomas in Amsterdam or the Wilhelminakerk in Utrecht-East.
