Tsoupaki ‘Into Space’ en Kyriakides ‘Observatorium’

CD-presentation ‘Into Space’ by ensemble Black Pencil

The Almere ensemble Black Pencil and the province of Flevoland will present the CD Into Space on Monday 13 March, containing music for and about Flevoland. The CD contains compositions about four landscape artworks, music about the city of Almere, the Schokland World Heritage Site and Flevoland’s nature in general. The first copy of Into Space will be handed over to the deputy for Art and Culture Michiel Rijsberman.

With its unique story and landscape, Flevoland has inspired a host of composers to create new music. The result has been collected on the CD Into Space. The province of Flevoland commissioned Black Pencil to write compositions for four landscape artworks. Calliope Tsoupaki, Meriç Artaç, Yannis Kyriakides and Aart Strootman accepted this request and made a piece of music for the Groene Cathedral, Aardzee, Observatorium and Sea Level respectively.
