Van Gilse by Residentie Orkest
In the opening concert of the AVROTROS Klassiek series, music is first performed by the inspired conductor and gifted composer Jan van Gilse, who held sway over the Utrecht Municipal Orchestra (USO) around 1920 and was highly regarded by musicians and the public at the time. After Mozart’s elegant, graceful and lilting Fourth Violin Concerto with the young German soloist Tobias Feldmann, Modest Musorgsky’s mighty Painting Exhibition will sound.
