Van Merwijk / Ter Veldhuis / Van Beurden
In the successful Concert of the Week series, KNMO Klankwijzer focuses the spotlight on concerts, presentations and events with a striking artistic interpretation or a special reason. In this episode we zoom in on Edition 2025 of the fanfare Project Orchestra, next Saturday, February 8 in Nijkerk.
The goal of Fanfare Project Orchestra is to perform a mix of existing fanfare works and new compositions that are an addition to the fanfare repertoire. In recent years, the orchestra has played pieces such as New Life by Maurice Hamers, Ostinati by Jan Van der Roost and The Horrors of the Ice and the Darkness by Harrie Janssen. In addition, brand new works by Robbert Vos and Geert Jan Kroon were also on the program.
More than 70 musicians from all over the country have also put together an interesting program for Edition 2025. Under the direction of Vincent Verhage (conductor of Brassband Amersfoort, among others) and Lute Hoekstra (ad-interim chief conductor of the Regimental Fanfare Garde Grenadiers and Jagers), they will perform a varied concert on Saturday, February 8, in the Hart van Holland in Nijkerk.
For example, Night on the Bald Mountain by Modest Mussorgsky, La Prière by Paul Gilson and Abysses by Franco Cesarini alternate with well-known songs such as Ob-La-Di, Ob-La-Da by The Beatles, Hymne à l’Amour by Édith Piaf and Destino iTango! by Willem van Merwijk. In addition, a tribute is paid to Dutch composers, including the Concert Medievale for fanfare orchestra and brass quintet by Bernard van Beurden. Contemporary music is also discussed with the spectacular Tallahatchie Concerto for alto saxophone by Jacob ter Veldhuis.
