Victoria Poleva: Symphony No. 3 White Interment
In addition to the Academy concerts in its home city of Munich, the Bavarian State Orchestra also plans and programs its own concert tours as part of its Musical Academy. For the orchestra, the trips are a welcome opportunity to raise its profile at home and abroad as a musical ambassador for the Free State of Bavaria and to develop further as an artistic collective. Accordingly, the orchestra is celebrating its anniversary year not only in Munich but also on a major tour of European musical capitals – together with its principal conductor Vladimir Jurowski, the sopranos Louise Alder and Elsa Dreisig, the violinist Vilde Frang and the pianist Yefim Bronfman.
The musicians have three programs with a very varied repertoire in their luggage, which refers to the tradition and great stylistic range of the Bavarian State Orchestra: With the prelude to Wagner’s Tristan und Isolde – which premiered in Munich in 1865 – and the Alpine Symphony by Richard Strauss, two works by house gods of the Bavarian State Opera will be heard, among others.
Several programs include Symphony No.3 White Interment by Ukrainian composer Victoria Poleva.
The tour is organized by the Bayerisches Staatsorchester Konzert GmbH.
