Wassim Ibrahim: Lament / Georgina Dance
The Ibrahim Trio is known for its creative spirit and its ability to blend traditional music with contemporary expressions. The piece My Lament was originally composed by Wassim Ibrahim for a different ensemble, and was later performed in an ethnographic jazz style, drawing on traditional rhythms and local melodies to create a rich musical experience that balances reflection and innovation.
Wassim Ibrahim’s Georgina Dance is inspired by a distinctive rhythm from the Levant called Georgina. It was composed for trumpet, cello, and piano, and later created in another version for oud, hurdy-gurdy, and percussion in an ethnographic jazz oriental style, blending traditional Levantine rhythms with contemporary improvisation.
