Willem Jeths: Suite Ritratto

Ritratto by Willem Jeths is a portrait of the staggeringly wealthy Luisa Casati. This eccentric Italian muse, unable to sit still for Man Ray, rose and set like the sun. Her last rays glow in this beautiful opera. Residentie Orkest’ chief conductor Anja Bihlmaier takes Ritratto’s Suite under her wing. This evening she will also meet our artist in residence Yeol Eum Son again. She performs as a soloist in Mozart’s brilliant and greatest Piano Concerto No. 25, one of his last works, and at the time of its publication it was described as one of the most intricate works the composer wrote. The evening closes with a sledgehammer: the Fourth Symphony by Johannes Brahms, his magnum opus. An overwhelming work and an absolute monument among symphonies.
