Willem van Otterloo: Serenade
Brass ensemble Koperguod has been around for 20 years and that is something to celebrate! Koperguod has put together a challenging program for this 20th anniversary. Koperguod himself plays some challenging works such as Serenade by composer Willem van Otterloo & West Side Story by Leonard Bernstein in the special brass ensemble arrangement by Eric Crees.
In addition to our own program, we have managed to secure two absolute top soloists! Koperguod has invited vocalist Dorona Alberti. Dorona has been on stages at home and abroad for almost two decades. Known as the lead singer of Gare du Nord and known for her collaboration with the Metropole Orchestra in ‘Music of James Bond’. Last summer she was André Rieu’s special guest during the Vrijthof concerts in Maastricht.
In addition, Jörgen van Rijen, solo trombonist of the Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra, is coming to Sneek. This absolute great on the trombone has managed to find space in his overcrowded agenda and will play together with Koperguod! He teaches at the Conservatory of Amsterdam and is International Visiting Professor at the Royal Academy of Music, London. He is also an active chamber musician in ensembles such as the Nieuw Trombone Collective, KCO Koper and Brass United. His special attention is devoted to promoting his instrument, developing new repertoire for the trombone and bringing the existing repertoire to the attention of a larger audience.
