A song cycle for choir using the words from Thomas Hardy’s  Poems of 1912-13, written after the death of his wife Emma. It portrays the stages of grief and how Hardy copes with the loss of his wife.

William Knight

William Knight started his musical career as a chorister of St Paul’s Cathedral, London. He read Music at the University of York whilst singing as the Tenor Choral Scholar at York Minster. He now works as a composer and professional freelance singer in the Netherlands, and is a core member of the Nederlands Kamerkoor.

The Gymnopédie, performed by the Netherlands Chamber Choir, is one of the first choral arrangements of this iconic work by Erik Satie, arranged by William Knight after an idea by Tido Visser. The arrangement makes use of Les Antiques, a poem by the poet J.P.
