World Premiere Hendrik Andriessen: Sonata ‘Da pacem, Domine’
Hendrik Andriessen’s Sonata ‘Da pacem, Domine’ from 1913 was considered lost for a long time. After an intensive search, the manuscript surfaced last year. On 13 September, after more than a century, the impressive work will be premiered in the Grote of St. Bavokerk in Haarlem.
The then Haarlem city organist Louis Robert premiered the Sonata in 1914. When Robert emigrated to the United States in 1922, he took the manuscript with him. A century later the work resounds again, performed by Erik Jan Eradus. He is organist of St Joseph’s Church in Haarlem, the church where Andriessen was organist at the time.
The concert on 13 September in the Grote of St. Bavokerk in Haarlem starts at 20.00 hours. Admission is free. After the concert, you can purchase the Donemus edition of the Sonata.
