Yannis Kyriakides: City Song

Dag van de Componist (Day of the Composer) opens early in the morning with a brand new composition by Anne-Maartje Lemereis, Composer Laureate, and the brand new city song by Yannis Kyriakides, who has been appointed City Composer of Amsterdam for the occasion. Kyriakides’ work is performed by trombonist Sebastiaan Kemner of Asko|Schönberg and the composer-performers Aurélie Lierman and Claudio Jacomucci. They also perform miniatures that they made on behalf of the Holland Festival and that form the basis for Mutablity. The station concert concludes with Gamelan Parade music by the composers Sinta Wullur, Maarten Bauer, Hinse Mutter and Krishna Sutedja. The New Music NOW Express will then start with the day-long concert marathon, and people can join Splendor on their way to a coffee concert and conversation with composers.

The station concert is a co-production of New Music NOW, Holland Festival and Asko|Schönberg.
