Yannis Kyriakides: Once there was

Having met in the USA at the 2022 Bang on a Can Music Festival in Massachusetts U.S.A, pianist Erika Dohi and percussionist Natasa Hadjiandreou built upon their common aesthetic on contemporary music to develop a joint project, presenting works by living composers from Cyprus and Japan, with the use of multimedia. Their goal is to promote this project in USA, where Erika is based as well as in Japan, Erika’s home country. All compositions will be Cyprus premieres. For the purpose of this performance, Erika and Natasa will work as co-composers and present their first work together as a duo.

The concert is a part of the Axiothea Festival organised by the Cultural Centre of the University of Cyprus on the 12th of July in Nicosia, Cyprus.

When you think of Indonesia, the spicy scents of the oriental kitchen probably come to mind. But perhaps also wajang puppets, chirping monkeys swinging through the jungle, or a volcano that could erupt at any moment. Or the traditional dances in beautiful clothing.
