The Budapest Festival Orchestra is guided in this concert by Iván Fischer. This week, as part of Bridging Europe, he will also conduct the Concertgebouw Orchestra. Moreover, both ensembles will, within the framework of bridging, exchange members. How fitting that Fischer will conduct Louis Andriessen’s Workers Union, among others. A piece that combines ultimate freedom and extreme discipline, as Andriessen himself said. A lot is allowed, but always in consultation with the other musicians.
By Beethoven, you will hear the Third Symphony, the ‘Eroica’. This is also a work with a message: Beethoven gives voice to all the qualities that make someone a good person, a hero even.
The tour of this Budapest Festival Orchestra will visit major stages and concerthalls:
Augst 26: Bonn, Opera House, Germany
September 17: Amsterdam Concertgebouw
September 18: Hamburg, Elbphilharmonie
