Lucas Wiegerink composed music for Le Chat Botté (Puss in Boots) for The Philharmonie Luxembourg. A comic music theatre performance for everyone from 5 years old. We are introduced to a brilliant cat that compensates for the knowledge of its not-so-intelligent owner. He gets his owner a title and even a castle through various tricks.
In the often cheerful and, at times, one can hear cartoonish music, influences of early music, tango and Edith Piaf. A magician puts the musicians into a deep sleep, and they snore with their instruments. Finally, they end up in an instrumental fit of laughter.
The text is by Ian De Toffoli, and the direction is in the hands of Béatrice Lachaussée. Lucas and Béatrice met five years ago during the workshop ‘Creating Opera & Music Theatre for Children & Young Audiences’ of ENOA (European Network of Opera Academies).
Rehearsals take place in Paris at the Monfort Théatre. The premiere is on April 21 at The Philharmonie Luxembourg, followed by seven more performances.
