Donemus congratulates November Music and Marieke Hopman on her appointment as the new artistic director, effective 1 August 2024. The November Music Festival is a great platform for Donemus composers, showcasing their talents and helping their careers. In this role, Hopman will succeed Bert Palinckx, who has been an integral part of the festival since 1999. Alongside managing director Theo van Dooremalen, she will lead November Music, emphasizing new music, audience engagement, education, participation, artistic autonomy, and innovation.
‘I have always been concerned with new music, particularly with the task of touching audiences,’ says Marieke Hopman (1981). ‘Education and participation, artistic autonomy and innovation are my great motives. It is my mission to firmly anchor art and culture in society. I look forward to continuing to build this wonderful festival!’
November Music is a ten-day ‘artist-driven’ new music festival in ‘s-Hertogenbosch. November Music is locally and regionally anchored and is active in the national and European new music network. November Music is one of the eight so-called BIS festivals and, as such, is structurally supported by the Ministry of OCW, the Province of Noord-Brabant and the Municipality of ‘s-Hertogenbosch.
