The Netherlands Youth String Orchestra won first prize at the Summa Cum Laude (SCL) Competition in Vienna this week! The competition is part of the SCM International Youth Music Festival, a global youth music festival.
Young talents from all over the world travel to the city of music to perform on one of the world’s most famous stages. The competition took place in the Golden Hall of the Musikverein, where the orchestra won first prize in the ‘string orchestras’ category. The international jury was clearly impressed by this talented orchestra. On July 4 the orchestra played at the Gala winner’s concert in the Great Hall of the Konzerthaus.
Conducted by Carel den Hartog, they performed the work ‘Caixa de dolços’ (Candy Box) of Chiel Meijering.
