About 1945–

1945– is a new orchestral work based on the acoustic imprint of division, memory, and artistic continuity. The piece was composed on the occasion of the 80th anniversary of the Society of Slovene Composers (DSS) and exists in the space between historical rupture and cultural resonance. The year 1945 carries multiple turning points: the end of the war, mass executions, political division, and the founding of institutions such as the DSS. These historical fractures still resonate today in individuals, families, and society. Unresolved trauma is transmitted from generation to generation through memory and even epigenetics, shaping our present and future. At the heart of the work lies the concept of “echo”: as a trace of events, a trace of wounds, a trace of droplets falling through the narrow lens of time. The music breathes through tension and sonic reflections. Individual voices, drawn from archival traces and living testimonies, are not quoted, but captured as sonic imprints in the moment. Emotional weight is woven into the sound spectrum and transformed into a raw, resonant sonic image. The work lives in dialogue: between past and future, the individual and the collective, tradition and innovation. It is dedicated to all creators who, through art, seek the inexpressible, build bridges, reveal what is hidden, and open spaces of transcendence. The work 1945– was created with the financial support of Donemus Publishing House and the Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Slovenia.
