Composer, conductor, and violinist Marijn Simons (The Netherlands, 1982) is the Artistic Director of the Liberme Chamber Orchestra and the chamber music series at the Liberme Castle in Belgium. In 2009, he founded the Simons Ensemble, with which he conducted several concerts and recordings. Since 2012, he has been Assistant Conductor at the Opernfestspiele Heidenheim.

“Die Nacht bricht mild” began as a ten-minute duo for violin and violoncello. The composer explains that “after hearing the piece several times, I realised I was dissatisfied with it and chose to withdraw it.

No matter how beautiful or disgusting it may seem to people far from madness, its value is beyond doubt, both for the author and for those able to sense its invisible beauty. Education Michael has a degree in English Literature from the State University of New York. Despite having no formal music education, he has an active international career in several aspects of the music business.

Celia Swart (1994, NL) is a new music composer, saxophone player and visual artist. Growing up playing saxophone and piano, she found her love for composing.
