Michael Fine: Ex Libris
The world premiere of Ex Libris by Michael Fine by Stathis Karapanos at the Schleswig – Holstein Music Festival.
Last year the Kieler Nachrichten reported on an acclaimed concert by the flutist Stathis Karapanos together with the Schleswig-Holstein Festival Orchestra: ‘Karapanos celebrates his solo part in a fascinating way. It sparkles with its embellishments and its own cadences, with tonal warmth and a radiant radiance as if freshly improvised.’ The fact that the charismatic Greek – who won the Leonard Bernstein Award in 2020 – knows how to celebrate not only large-scale orchestral works but also the virtuoso chamber music repertoire for flute in an enchantingly sensual way, is a fact To be experienced this summer in Wulfshagen: Together with the French pianist Jean-Paul Gasparian, Karapanos dedicates himself to selected works from the British-royal baroque to the dance-like Viennese classic to the filigree French modern.
On the program Michale Fine, Georg Friedrich Händel, Joseph Haydn, Ralph Vaughan Williams and Francis Poulenc.
