Maxim Shalygin / Svyatoslav Lunyov
Piano works by Maxim Shalygin and Svyatoslav Lunyov at the festival Winteravonden aan de Amstel.
In the Etudes program you will be introduced to much more than just virtuoso etudes. You hear studies about time, about softness, about brutality, but always about beauty. You will hear well-known etudes, such as by Liszt and Chopin, but also lesser known ones by, for example, Ligeti and the Ukrainian composer Lunyov. The latter wrote an etude about the sudden death of his friend, a pianist, with ‘Memory of 25.05.2007’. Finally on the program is the Dutch premiere of TO ALL RESURRECTED (2024) by the Ukrainian-Dutch composer Maxim Shalygin, a very intense and powerful-sounding etude, which is part of the cycle Fetus études. Get ready for a special piano recital!
