Arnold Marinissen:

It is a pleasure to have joined Donemus, who publish my music as of January 2024. Donemus has a wonderful team, and a great website which serves as a hub for composers, musicians and music organisations in- and outside The Netherlands. Through the Donemus webshop, sheet music can be purchased instantly. So for me, Donemus is the ideal partner to represent and share my music!

Davo van Peursen:

Donemus is honored to have Arnold Marinissen on board. Arnold has written many wonderful works that are being performed frequently both in The Netherlands and abroad. We are excited to cooperate with him to preserve his extensive catalogue and promote it to the best of our abilities.

Arnold Marinissen is a composer whose work is characterized by a focus on warmth, pulse, and the interplay between voice and text. He is known for his compositions for various instruments, including percussion, strings, winds, and keyboards, as well as electro-acoustic music and music for dance and film. His compositions often explore the nuances of intonation, breath, and diction, while also showcasing the individual personalities of performers.

Throughout his career, Marinissen’s works have been performed by a range of ensembles and performers across the globe, including renowned groups such as the Asko|Schoenberg Ensemble and the Slagwerk Den Haag. His vocal quintet, Von Pferden, Gräsern, Sonnen, Menschen, received critical acclaim and nominations for prestigious awards.

In addition to his compositional endeavors, Marinissen has been actively involved in academia, serving as Head of Composition, Classical Voice, and Master research at the Conservatorium van Amsterdam. He also conducted research on the composition of concert music in the Digital Workstation environment, resulting in a PhD from Bournemouth University in 2022.

His research project focused on exploring the use of Digital Audio Workstations (DAWs) as tools for composition, resulting in a portfolio of compositions and a contextual document discussing the implications of DAWs for concert music composition. This work sheds light on the evolving landscape of contemporary composition and the role of technology in shaping musical expression.

Marinissen’s contributions to contemporary music extend beyond composition and research, as he has also established himself as a solo percussionist and chamber musician, performing worldwide and releasing solo CDs that showcase his virtuosity and innovative approach to percussion performance.

His ‘Shutterspeed’ together with ‘Capriccios of the world’ by Maxim Shalygin for clarinet and soundtrack on the China tour program by Michel Marang. Both pieces are part of the ’Shifting Images’ project started many years ago by Michel Marang. A programme in which new music is performed together with Marang’s photographic sequences.
