Canto Ostinato Immersive by Wishful Singing & Aart Bergwerff puts Simeon ten Holt’s audience favourite for organ and female voices in a spatial setting.
From 1 June to 1 July 2022, vocal ensemble Wishful Singing and organist Aart Bergwerff will tour the country with Canto Ostinato Immersive. Canto Ostinato by Simeon ten Holt – often affectionately called ‘the Canto’ – is a pre-eminently meditative piece. Each performance is unique. The composer leaves the number of repetitions, the dynamics and the playing style to the performers. Aart Bergwerff has made an arrangement especially for the organ and the female voices of Wishful Singing. Because the singers are among the audience during the performance, this Canto really becomes a sound experience. Visitors choose their own chair or mat in the space and can wear a sleeping mask during the concert in order to perceive the spatial effect even more strongly.
From 1 June to 1 July, the concert will tour 11 Dutch cities.

Composers in the crosshairs of our attention
"Creativity is an unconscious act of insanity, in a burst of which the truth is born. No matter how beautiful or disgusting it may seem to people far from madness, its value is beyond doubt, both for the author and for those able to sense its invisible beauty. After all, gratitude for endless trials and suffering brings joy and blissful emptiness… Being shocked by music is about pain turning into beauty and getting under your skin, taking away your breath; about everything stopping to move. I want to be scratched inside by sound and experience the fleeting, invisible beauty." - Maxim Shalygin
