CD Release Concert ‘Arc’ by the Intercontinental Ensemble

The Intercontinental Ensemble presents the new CD ‘Arc’ with works by five female composers. The musicians combine 19th century classics by Louise Farrenc and Clara Schumann with new work written for the ensemble by Bianca Bongers, Sarah Neutkens and Aregnaz Martirosyan. They will release their CD on the TRPTK label.

The nine-strong Intercontinental Ensemble consists of four strings and five wind instruments. The members come from Mexico, Spain, Portugal, the Czech Republic, Luxembourg and the Netherlands. They share a passion for chamber music and the nonet and want to show how varied the repertoire for this instrument is. In addition, they enrich the nonet repertoire with their own arrangements of symphonic repertoire and new works.

The core philosophy of the ensemble is making music and listening to each other. Each musician has an equal say and musical responsibility. Because the musicians are trained to listen to each other intensively, the ensemble is an ideal partner in collaborations with singers and soloists.

Program:

– Bianca Bongers: Collage van een Achtvlak
– Clara Schumann (1819-1896): 3 Romanzen, Op .21 (arr. voor nonet Ernst Spyckerelle)
– Aregnaz Martirosyan: Emotional Diversity
– Sarah Neutkens: September I
– Louise Farrenc (1804-1875): Nonette, Op. 38

When you think of Indonesia, the spicy scents of the oriental kitchen probably come to mind. But perhaps also wajang puppets, chirping monkeys swinging through the jungle, or a volcano that could erupt at any moment. Or the traditional dances in beautiful clothing.
