Douwe Eisenga, Celia Swart, Bram Kortekaas at the Day of the Composer
Douwe Eisenga wrote his piano piece ‘For Mattia’ as a tribute to a 26-year-old woman who died at the request of her parents. He plays the piece himself. On a slightly out-of-tune upright piano, he recorded a recording that rose rapidly into the classical top 400. Eisenga took the spotlight with his contemplative piano piece, the kind of music for which the term “neoclassical” has been revived.
Douwe Eisenga plays in TivoliVredenburg and is interviewed by Aad van Nieuwkerk and Karmit Fadael. Then Celia Swart and Bram Kortekaas join. They wrote new work for the Concertgebouw Orchestra and talk about their collaboration as composers in their twenties with the world-renowned orchestra.
