Program:
1) The Collectors – Moritz Eggert
2) Piazonore – Alexej Gerassimez
3) Kitchen Stories V – Martin Fondse
– break –
4) Paintings from an exhibition – Modest Mussorgsky (arr. Marijn van Prooijen)
With new musical paintings composed by master students of the Royal Conservatory of The Hague: Katherine Teng (Taiwan), Jasper de Bock (Netherlands), Alam Hernández Ramírez (Mexico), Arefeh Hekmatpanah (Iran).
The two performers come together especially to breathe life into this exciting and “refreshing” project and share it with the public. “Paintings from an Exhibition” has been produced to maintain constant interest and engagement throughout the performance for different ages and preferences of music lovers. An extensive percussion set-up with different sounds, small, large and exotic instruments in combination with the powerful and energetic playing of one of the world’s best pianists and beautiful melodies and transitions between piano, vibraphone and Thai gongs ensures this.
The theme of collecting and the importance of art play a leading role. The collection is even a kind of addiction to the love of music and innovations. The name of the program comes from Modest Mussorgsky’s famous and history-rich classical masterpiece ‘Painting Exhibition’, the arrangement was specially made for this program and takes center stage. The piano and percussion open doors to the magical world of the exhibition and take listeners to the musical promenade walk in the Academy of Arts, where we can experience the old castle, the Limoges market and the ballet of unhatched chicks.
