Maxim Shalygin: Idlaviv
A celebration of the famous ‘Hague School’ as part of the Dutch Composers’ Day. In addition to the great masterpiece ‘Facing Death’ by Louis Andriessen, the concert programme includes world premieres by his students and Maxim Shalygin’s new piece: ‘idlaviv’ for 4 soprano saxophones.
Maxim Shalygin: “It’s not often that I write works that are at the intersection of humour, sarcasm, beauty and seriousness. This is one of those works that vibrates somewhere around these feelings. idlaviv is one of the pieces in the future Amstel Suite that I plan to create for this unique and deeply beloved group of musicians”.
