Rick van Veldhuizen: unde imber et ignes

The Rotterdams Philharmonisch Orkest will open its 2023-2024 season with a program titled ‘Someday We’ll Find Us’ curated and conducted by Manoj Kamps.

It features a new version of ‘unde imber et ignes’ which Rick van Veldhuizen wrote for the Nederlands Studenten Orkest 3 years ago.

A gentle caress touches you in a place where you are defenceless: this is how Debussy’s Prélude opens. Sweet confusion: what is this enticement, where does it come from? What are you risking if you go along with it? Resistance is pointless, Björk tells us: someday we’ll find us. Surrender and let yourself be carried away by Van Veldhuizen’s ‘unde imber et ignes’. Sparks fly and shock you – seductive and disruptive at the same time.

Program:

Van Veldhuizen – unde imber et ignes
Debussy – Prélude à l’aprês-midi d’un faune
Debussy – From Nocturnes: Fêtes

Sondheim Songs
