The wounds of the world (Day of the Composer)
On Saturday 18 June, the Composer’s Day will take place for the first time in the Netherlands. As part of this, an afternoon concert will take place in Akoesticum, in which songs by six Dutch composers will be performed, with explanations by the composers themselves: Sylvia Maessen, Fant de Kanter, Wilko Brouwers, Boudewijn Tarenskeen, Maarten van Norden and Kris Oelbrandt.
The concert will be called THE WOUNDS OF THE WORLD, a title that needs no explanation after two tough corona years and with the current war conflicts. The programme, with no fewer than four premieres, will be performed by soprano Irene Maessen with Ursula Dütschler on fortepiano, soprano Charlotte Houberg with Heleen Vegter at the piano, mezzo-soprano Hanneke Tichelaar with Wilko Brouwers at the piano, soprano Bauwien van der Meer with piano Pauline Post, mezzo-soprano Elsbeth Gerritsen with Riko Fukuda at the piano and soprano Charlotte Riedijk with Gerard Bouwhuis at the piano.
