Reflections on 2023

1. Simeon100 Celebration:
   • The year kicked off with a special celebration, Simeon100, commemorating the 100th birthday of Simeon Ten Holt. This involved various events and performances dedicated to honoring his legacy.
2. MyDonemus Launch:
   • In January, Donemus introduced MyDonemus, an advanced tool designed for composers. This tool provides composers with a detailed overview of their royalties, enhancing their ability to manage and track their earnings efficiently. Composers can upload new works, and musicians can submit recordings for one of our labels. The launch of MyDonemus benefited composers and contributed to the label’s activities, streamlining workflows and ensuring a smoother operation.
3. Record Turnover:
   • Donemus achieved its highest turnover, driven by increased sales, rentals, and library licenses. This points towards a growing demand for the diverse catalogue of Donemus.
4. New Composers Joining:
   • Among the new Donemus composers were the Ukrainian Victoria Vita Poleva and Maxim Kolomiiets. The expansion of these new composers has increased our international presence. Donemus witnessed significant performances across various genres, including orchestral works, dance performances, and chamber music.
5. Forbidden Music Regained Milestone:
   • The production of the 100th score in the Forbidden Music Regained series highlights Donemus’ commitment to preserving and promoting historically significant musical pieces.
6. International Presence:
   • Donemus actively participated in international conferences in New York and Cambridge, showcasing its expertise and engaging with the global music community. Our role at the forefront of industry trends and developments has been recognised internationally.
7. Media Recognition:
   • Two Donemus composers garnered attention from the prestigious New York Times in 2023. This recognition underscores the quality and impact of the compositions within Donemus’ portfolio.

Overall, 2023 was a year of growth, innovation, and recognition for Donemus Publishing. With our small team, we can look back at a successful year.
