Though first known through his collaboration with director Barrie Kosky in the Opera Australia production of his The Ascension of Robert Flau (1990), Douglas Knehans (b. 1957) is perhaps best known for his orchestral compositions. In this music the study of orchestral mass, expressive impact and sonic brilliance drive his musical language.

Free concert at the train station Arnhem at the Dag van de Componist (Dutch Composer’s Day). The program includes the City Song Arnhem by city composer Lucas Wiegerink, performed by music theater choir De Ruimte, with a special solo role for Arnhem’s well-known singer songwriter Lavalu.

RHIZOME is a listening experience which explores the limits of focused listening and memory. Following both sessions listeners will be presented with a Questionnaire aimed at capturing qualitative responses to their listening experience, and select listeners who attend the second session will be chosen for an extended interview with the composer.

Education Michael has a degree in English Literature from the State University of New York. Despite having no formal music education, he has an active international career in several aspects of the music business.

Celia Swart (1994, NL) is a new music composer, saxophone player and visual artist. Growing up playing saxophone and piano, she found her love for composing.
