DCV 299 – Alla Zagaykevych: Voice/Way

Ukrainian composer Alla Zagaykevych in focus of ‘Ukraine & Beyond’ project which was launched since the beginning of Russia’s war of aggression to set an example and focus on Ukraine’s rich culture. In that series were so far portrayed the two Ukrainian composers: Valentin Silvestrov and Borys Lyatoshynsky.

In this second concert-portrait of Alla Zagaykevych, the Ukrainian artist in residence at Le Vivier, invites us to hear three works from her repertoire and one creation. They will be performed by Quasar (saxophones), Pamela Reimer (piano), Lyne Allard (violin), Hubert Brizard (violin), Marie-Annick Béliveau (soprano – Chants Libres), Corinne René (percussions – PSM).

Highlighting this season dedicated to the victims of the war in Ukraine, this concert, conducted by Lorraine Vaillancourt, presents the works of five composers yet to be discovered.

Education Michael has a degree in English Literature from the State University of New York. Despite having no formal music education, he has an active international career in several aspects of the music business.

Celia Swart (1994, NL) is a new music composer, saxophone player and visual artist. Growing up playing saxophone and piano, she found her love for composing.
