Dear music friends,
Simeon ten Holt can be counted among the most important Dutch composers of the 20th century. His Canto Ostinato is probably the most frequently performed Dutch composition. In versions from piano to symphony orchestra, from performances in the Amsterdam Concertgebouw, TivoliVredenburg in Utrecht to the Amsterdam Dance Event. It can be heard in feature films and documentaries and as music for several ballet performances with different choreographies. It is performed on all continents with widely varying audiences ranging from the Royal Family to school classes. Simeon ten Holt has been the inspiration for several books and films as well as for artists in other disciplines.
The Stichting Simeon ten Holt invites you to generate attention for Simeon ten Holt in 2023 under the umbrella “Simeon100”. Throughout this year, your initiative to perform or organise concerts with works by Ten Holt will be featured on our new Simeon ten Holt website. We also invite you to use the “Simeon100” logo, especially designed for the anniversary year, in all your media content. The heading “Simeon100” will also include other art expressions or publications. We are committed to strengthening all activities around Simeon ten Holt during that special year and bringing them to the attention of a wide audience. An array of plans is currently being investigated, aimed at keeping Simeon ten Holt in the spotlight for the entire year.
