Sonatas and miniatures for cello and piano

This program creates a space of fragile states full of shifting impressions of light and shadow. Duo miniatures of the 20th and 21st centuries float through the landscapes of breath and silence.
Henriëtte Bosmans and Rosy Wertheim, both Amsterdam-born composers working under the restrictions of the 1940s, created music of remarkable beauty and resilience. Their duo works combine intimacy with clarity and quiet intensity.
The Cello Sonata by Svyatoslav Lunyov moves between textural complexity and moments of pure simplicity, shaping a powerful one-movement arc. Claude Debussy’s late Sonata, written during World War I and originally planned within a cycle of six sonatas, connects modern expressiveness with echoes of French Baroque style.
The concert closes with the complete works for cello and piano by Maxim Shalygin, whose music reveals chamber dialogue at its most intimate and sincere.

Program:
Henriëtte Bosmans – 3 Impressions
Rosy Wertheim – Sonatine voor cello en piano
Svyatoslav Lunyov – Sonata for cello and piano
Claude Debussy – Sonate pour violoncelle et piano d-moll L.135
Maxim Shalygin –
Dolcissima
Tristissima
Angel

The two musicians share a curiosity, openness, and a deep engagement with music.
Denys Karachevtsev (cello) moves between classical repertoire, contemporary music, improvisation, and experimental performance formats. His concert tours have taken him to over 30 countries in Europe, Asia, and North America.
Darya Dadykina (piano) performs as a soloist and in chamber music and song projects, developing programs that connect different eras and art forms. Her concert tours span Europe and Asia.
