Maxim Shalygin: Khôra

Award-winning Ukrainian harpsichordist Dmytro Kokoshynskyy is bringing his highly anticipated new program to the 37th Musikfest Bremen in Germany. The performance will feature music from his new album, Music for These Troubled Times, highlighted by the live performance of Maxim Shalygin’s contemporary masterpiece, “Khôra” for solo harpsichord.

Written specifically for this project, Shalygin’s composition serves as a bridge connecting the modern world with the 16th and 17th centuries. The concert explores the theme of melancholy, pairing Renaissance English works with Shalygin’s new piece to highlight music’s timeless power as a remedy during difficult, uncertain times.
