Petra Strahovnik: BallerinaBallerina (Dag van de Componist)
On Saturday June 18, 2022, New Music NOW organizes the first Day of the Composer, the motto for this day is Long live the Composer! A celebration of new music. Music by composers active in the Netherlands can be heard throughout the country: not only in concert-halls and theatres, but also from bell-towers, on the street and in living rooms. The NTR and VPRO report live and New Music NOW streams concerts and interviews all day long. Reporters from all over the country will report on this first ever Day of the Composer.
Festival Dag in de Branding, together with partners, ensures that there are many concerts and activities in The Hague on this day.
On June 18 and 19 ensemble Modelo62 performs the music-theatre production BallerinaBallerina by Petra Strahovnik. BallerinaBallerina is a piece about a 15-year-old autistic girl who tiptoes and sings when she becomes overstimulated and is based on the book of the same name by Slovenian writer Marko Sosič.
