Donemus, in collaboration with the Leo Smit Foundation and the Netherlands Music Institute, is proud to present a new volume in its series “Forbidden Music Regained.” This completes the series of 100 titles, ranging from solo and chamber works to orchestral works to operas and oratorios.
Saxophonist-clarinetist Ab Baars (Magrette, Zeeuws Vlaanderen, 21 November 1955) is a mainstay in a number of important groups from the Dutch improvisation scene, like the Guus Janssen Septet, the Theo Loevendie Quintet, the Instant Composers Pool, the Corkestra and ensembles led by his partner, violist-composer Ig Henneman.
Jakub Polaczyk (born in 1983 in Poland) is a Polish-American composer, pianist, and pedagogue interested in surreal and synthetic art. He graduated from the Penderecki Music Academy, Jagiellonian University and Carnegie Mellon University. He studied with: Krzysztof Penderecki, Marcel Chyrzyński, Marek Chołoniewski, Reza Vali, Jan van Landeghem.
Luc Brewaeys was born in 1959 in Mortsel (Belgium). He studied composition with André LAPORTE in Brussels, with Franco DONATONI in Siena (Italy) and with Brian FERNEYHOUGH in Darmstadt (Germany). From 1980 to 84 he had regular contacts with Iannis XENAKIS in Paris. He is also conductor, pianist and works since 1985 as recording producer at the VRT (Flemish Radio & Television).
